Velazquez’s Crucifixion

This is a study I did of one of my wife’s favorite paintings. Diego Velazquez was a Spanish Court painter in the 1600’s. It is the first time I used an ‘under-painting’ to first lay-in the tones in black and white before adding color, a technique likely used by Velazquez himself. I love to pray in front of this painting.
