Pope Benedict XVI

This drawing is one of the first pieces I completed when I got back into art after a long hiatus. Our family was thrilled when Joseph Ratzinger was elected the 264th Successor of Peter in 2005. He had long been a hero of ours and we were privileged to have met him on several occasions. Although he may never be recognized as a saint like his popular predecessor, we certainly experienced his holiness when we were in his presence. He is a very humble and gentle soul in spite of his lofty office and great intellect. The media’s caricatures of him are completely unjust.
