Our Lady of Guadalupe

Because of my involvement in the Pro-Life movement I had wanted to do a painting of Our Lady of Guadalupe for a long time. After attending an iconography class in Rome, where I experienced working with egg tempera for the first time, I wanted to practice with this medium again, and I thought it would be fitting for this image. Although it wasn’t my original intent, through a series of “providential” mistakes I ended up with kind of an “iconographic” effect because of the gold background.
