Jesus Invites Us to His Table

This pencil drawing is taken from an old holy card, probably from the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. Images in books, magazines or other publications from this period were often done by engravings, a practice of incising a design onto a hard, usually flat surface, by cutting grooves into it, from which prints are then made. I love the effect the carved lines create in these old engravings so I decided to replicate it as best I could using pencil. I was commissioned to draw this piece by a family, to hang in their dining room.
