Ecce Agnus Dei

I came across a photograph of this drawing (photographer unknown) in the week after I had just undergone an unexpected major brain surgery to remove a grade 2 meningioma tumor after suffering a severe seizure, out of the blue, at work. Because of the tumor’s location, there was the possibility of having total or partial loss of speech and/or of my right arm. Feeling extremely blessed to have had excellent doctors and to have come through the nearly 5 hour surgery with the ability to still speak and use my right hand to draw, I found this picture especially moving and thought it would be beautiful in white charcoal, with the host and chalice illuminated as they were. I completed it in under a week during my recovery.
