Bernini’s Holy Spirit

If you’ve ever visited the majestic Basilica of St. Peter’s in Rome you will recognize this image.  As you step into the Basilica and are stunned by its immensity, your eye is soon drawn to the warm light far at the opposite end, framed by the baldacchino.  The glow emanates from Lorenzo Bernini’s grand Holy Spirit window.  The window is not made of stained glass, but of the stone alabaster.  I tried to capture its translucent beauty in this painting.
